RWBY: Brandish pt.8
Ruby’s first morning in the castle came with some unexpected, and unwanted, intrusions. As she lay on the comfortable, oversized bed her door flew open and the sound of several pairs of feet on the carpet began to stir her awake. Then the curtains on the far side of the room were torn open, unleashing an onslaught of sunlight that fell square upon her face, making her grown groggily and try to hide herself away.
“It’s morning, Lady Rose.” Came a voice. “It’s time to get up.”
Ruby rolled over, further wrapping herself in her sheets. “Five more minutes.”
The head maid strode across the ro

Atlas was a place of ceremonies and traditions, even more so within the royal court than anywhere else. Ruby stood outside the giant gilded doors that lead to the throne room, dressed in white clothes that were more for ornamentation than practicality with silvery tassels and blue hemming. With a ornamental sword at her hip Ruby placed a pair of gloved hands on the doors and pushed them open.
The stained glass windows on the east side flooded the room with bright shades of gold, blue, red and green as the sun shone down upon the castle. Bathed in the colored light Ruby took calm and measured strides towards the throne where Weiss stood in fu

With soldiers in tow James walked the dark corridors of the fortress beneath Schnee Castle, the emergency lights illuminating his march as his entourage fell in behind him.
“Status.” He demanded.
A woman in uniform carrying a glowing tablet matched his stride. “The power grid for blocks E through H is down.”
“I can see that for myself.” James replied. “What caused it?”
“Unknown, sir.” She replied.
“What about the prison?” He asked.
“The emergency generator has kept all cells on lock down.” A light flashed on her tablet. “Except one,” she adde

Despite Weiss’ height she managed to stay two strides ahead of Yang and Blake as she stormed through her castle, still fuming from her exchange with the general of her army. She made no real path, making Blake wonder just where her queen was headed if not back to her study.
As the trio walked a man in the royal guard’s uniform came running from a side corridor. “Captain!” He called to the group, stopping them in their stride, even in the middle of Weiss’ furious march. The man stopped a good distance from the girls and gave a deep bow to his queen, placing his right arm across his chest. “Forgive the intru

Everyone from desk jockeys to full fledged soldiers stepped aside as their queen marched through the halls of the fortress. The temper of a Schnee was infamous and the old saying held true: “like father, like daughter”.
Weiss stormed through the fortress with her spymaster and captain of the guard on her heels and an expression of cold passive aggression on her face. Her icy eyes took no notice of the people around her as she went, her thoughts solely on one person and the actions he had taken without notifying her first and foremost.
When she found her target she saw something else that only fed her irritation: Ruby, wrists and

Self-Confidence
I’m a far cry from a rapper
I’m just a poet
Desperate for some recognition
But I’m too damn proud to show it
I’m not like those famous singers
Up on stage, ready to shine
I have a hard time
Carrying a rhyme
Yet in the end I’m proud to call these words mine
I like to pretend
That I don’t overextend
And bend over backwards
Caught up on someone else’s words
I’ve got just as much time as the people around me
But from these feelings of mortality I wish that I was free
I sit and wonder if my work truly matters
My thoughts they ring, collide and clatter
While my mind becomes lost in this torrent of
The scent of painkillers hangs heavy in the air
The room is flooded with shattered glass
And the stench of scorched, burnt hair
Smeared handprints mar the walls
Where fingernails scraped away the paint
Until even the lights are pulled free and fall
Bruises paint horrific tattoos on those who stand out
Bodies wracked with pain
Forever stained with the words that others shout
Some live in fear of the truth that they bear
Fearful of what would happen to them
If they came out and said what they had to share
Others are controlled, beaten and medicated
“This is a problem that must be fixed!”
“This disorder must be mitigated!

Blood On Ignorant Hands
I’m banging against doors
Putting holes where there were walls
Tearing down barriers
Watching them burn
While I wreck the halls
They don’t seem to listen
But I’m calling out loud and clear
They’re telling me to calm down
It’s no big deal
But I just want them to hear
The ignorance of our past
Is poisoning our futures
We’re trying to make amends
Set things right
And here they are pulling at the sutures
“The old can’t change”
Or so they say
They blast us for being different
Calling us wrong
But we’re hanging in there and here to stay
I hate going outside
But for some it’s

At Ruby’s request the car bearing both her and Blake stopped just before it reached Low Town and the younger girl exited the vehicle to walk the rest of the way on her own. She hadn’t said a word during the drive and Blake didn’t try to force a conversation, instead she watched from the back seat as Ruby’s back shrank into the distance.
“Should we keep an eye on her?” One of Blake’s subordinates asked from the front.
The spymaster shook her head. “Leave her be.” She said. She faced forward and, through an unspoken command, ordered the driver to take them away.
Ruby made her way into Low
