Her fists rang out as thunder against the doors of heaven, her hands streaked with her blood and that of her friends.

Her cries pierce the empty silence. “Haven’t I suffered enough?”

No response comes.

Battering and staining the door her hands break and she throws herself against the obstruction until she can no longer move.

"What more do you want from me?"

Blinded by pain and choked with lament she lays bleeding upon the floor.

She questions her decisions, she wonders how things could have been had she never walked this path.

Her body grows cold and the doors remain shut.

She would be with her friends again soon or so she hoped.
"Human beings are drawn to pain and suffering, vicariously living through another's experiences, hidden behind a sheet of glass that protects them from the splatter. It is pessimistic to believe that happy endings are false yet it is foolish to believe bad endings are false even when our world is full of them. Perhaps that is why human beings desire the happy ending in stories, because it is something we can not have."

RHe ground his palms against his ears, teeth clenched and eyes pressed shut.
He tried to drown her cries, whispering to himself. “I’m sorry.”
Yet she could not hear him.
He did not want to hear her cries, he wanted to forget the pain he caused her, the pain he caused them all.
"Forgive me. Forgive me."
Tears streaking his face he does not hear the end of her struggle.
He set her upon this path, pushed her towards it all so he could be here.
He releases his head and sits back upon his throne, staring into the light.
He made them suffer and he would do it again if needed.
NHe held what was left of his friend in his arms, teeth bared in anger.
Staring at her bloodied form as she walked away. “This is all because of you!”
He could not see her tears.
Surrounded by the broken bodies of their friends, his pain roared out over the stained ivory floors.
"I will never forgive you! Do you hear me?"
He watched her as she continues to climb the silvered stair, ascending towards the light above.
He had followed her down this path and he warned her to turn back, yet she did not listen.
Swearing vengeance before the dead he mourns in pain.
He would never forgive and he would never forget
